On January 24, 2017 by Theater Talk Web

Writer David Ives talks about his prolific and wide-ranging playwriting career, including his new comedy at the Classic Stage Company, The Liar, loosely adapted from Le Menteur by Pierre Corneille. He also talks about his current collaboration with Stephen Sondheim on a yet-to-be-titled new musical, based on film director Luis Buñuel’s The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie and The Exterminating Angel, scheduled for The Public Theater’s 2017-2018 season.

I just watched this episode with David Ives and loved it! It should be required viewing for every college course in French Lit, Classical Theatre, and Drama History. I must say that I enjoy Jesse Green so much more as a host than Mr. Reidel. Jesse and Susan were smart enough to just let Mr. Ives talk.
